car broke down last night after i left work.

as above. Finished work at 10pm last night. Drove to my area. Stopped. Stopped outside a cash point, turned the lights off, looked over to the cash point but it was out of service. So turned lights back on and drove to the next 1 on top of the road. Got money out, came back to the car, turned it over and just kept turning and wouldnt fire up. Hmmmm. Coil pack. (BARSTWER!!) Rang ozie got him out of bed and open his shop for a new coil pack. Marched back to the car with ozie. Dreading it as i didnt know if i had my tools in car, checked and they was there. Fitted the pack. Started the car and it ran sh1t for few seconds and then back to normal. Kind of chuffed as i didnt have call the AA and sorted the problem on the main road.

Just wanted to say thanks to bizzle as he saved my a$$

im lucky that i got mates who get out of bed to help out. & im even lucky that he has a shop with loads of parts on the shelf. And even luckier that i left my tools in the car as i had the window regulator & motor out. So pretty lucky.

glad ya got it sorted mate. my battery  give up on me last nite an had it on charge all nite but has just given up all togther an wont charge  :sad:so now got to wait untill fri next week as dont get payed till then for a new one.

kinda p1ssed off as it was a bosch coil pack and only had it for 3-5 yrs.
All sorted now. But then a new problem appeared now. My gear stick feels sooo loose. It has like an inch of play in it. It goes into gear but feels loose as anything

just had a look in the engine bay & i could see that below the selectors ( peopel change to short shift) ther is a plastic ball type and its missing its house. While i was on the phone to gsf i saw a black rubber half ball. When i picked it up i realised that its the casing for that ball thats why the gear stick is soo looose.
What i want to know is that do i need the gear shift repair kit??n
