Recently got a MK4 Golf 1.6 and it was fine for a bit then I've noticed that sometimes it doesn't start. It will turn over fine for a while but if it does start it will run really badly for about 2 seconds and die. This has happened four times now, once on a cold start outside my house, in a petrol station after filling up when the car was warm and today when I stalled it turning into a side road on a hill then it wouldn't start again when leaving the house which was the worst yet as it took 3-4 times to get it going so obviously I'm a little worried.
Getting to the point now where I worry that it will actually start everytime I drive it

So anyway, I checked the fault codes with a scanner and got these:
00668 - Battery Power Voltage Supply (terminal 3)
00513 - Engine Speed Sensor G28 Signal Malfunction
00520 - Volume Mass Air Flow Sensor G19ig70
I don't remember 00668 or 00520 being there when I scanned it last week just the engine speed sensor as I've been meaning to get this done.
As for the MAF, I did recently (Last Tuesday) fit a pipercross panel filter for a 1.6 to my car and I have heard trouble with panel filters messing up with the MAF so do you recon this is the case? I thought it was to do with over oiling the filters though and I didn't put any on so I presumed it was a dry filter but I'm not too sure.
Any other suggestions for the starting issue? Would the engine speed sensor cause this? and how hard is it to do? Or should I just take it to a garage?
Cheers guys
