This is probably a stupid question but if I fitted one of these would I have to loose my engine cover? The std intake looks as if it's attached?

Not on an Ed 35 engine.

He would have to loose his engine cover, or hack it to bits, in the same way the Mk5 GTI lads had to.

Thanks for that, thought it looked too straight forward to be true! I just wanted to do some for show, any recommendations?

The intake that stands out to me as giving the best gains as well as looking good, is the Forge Twintake. I've seen that give 14BHP on a mapped Mk5, so surely a good bet for an Ed 35. Not cheap mind.

You should be able to pick up a carbon engine cover too, as the engine without the standard cover is an abysmal mess!

I'd be interested in picking this intake up for the price and having it dyno'd before and after. If there are no increase in performance, take it back for a refund as it clearly states "this CAI kit gives a typical increase in torque of around 5% with an airflow increase of approximately 30% over the factory system"  could also log air flow and see if there's a genuine 30% increase or not... tempted... but with the cost of the dynos, I may as well buy something with proven gains to begin with
