Fan issue

Hello guys I am having a bit of a problem with my fan it's coming on as soon as I turn the car on but only when the air con is on as soon as I turn it off so does the fan, I have searched for this and it seems to happen a fair bit with a few different things at fault but on all the searches that I have found everyone has there's repaired under warranty, so I was hoping that somebody might no a rough cost if this has happened to anyone previously that has paid to have it repaired? I have taken the car to a VW specialist todat and he says that it is normal procedure for the fan to come on when the car has just been started as its just assisting the air con as the engine has just been turned on and after a while it should stop doing it which is what happens, but im not convinced.

Take it to another VW dealer and then you'll know for sure. I personally haven't ever noticed, but I don't think you need to be too sceptical.  :smug:

I have been worried about the same even when car has been running and I stop at lights it sometimes come on :/

If the car has been running a while and is warm and it came on I wouldn't mind as then I would no it's only doing it's job to cool the engine but as it comes on when the engine is cold and I have now noticed it stays on continually even when driving for the first 15 mins I no there is a problem but I don't want to have to pay Vw £70 to do their diagnostics check for them to come back and and say there is nothing wrong with it
