Got a local exhaust place near you?  Far better option than the overpriced tat that is Milltek

Are they just as good getting some made up in your opinion then Rhys?

The place near me in Cardiff is yes   A lot depends on the quality of steel they use and how good they are at welding.

The system on my MK4 was second to none; Nick @ R-Tech will confirm that

I agree Milltek are way too expensive now   However I got mine at a show for much less and I love it. The sound is spot on IMO just right.

The problem with custom is as said hit and miss on the quality of the steel and welds, also custom never seems to look quiet OEM or made for the car IMO.

I had a issue with the fit on mine - it was fitted by TSR and Milltek refitted and sealed it with brand new stainless steel clamps for Free.

I have a company near me that does custom made exhausts, called TOPGEAR, and they quoted me £359 inc VAT, and fitting for a cat back twin tail pipe. It also comes with a lifetime guarantee, and that is for whoever owns the car it is on, not just the first owner of the exhaust.  So as soon as I can afford one, I am getting a custom made one, as the company's reputation near me are very good, and I don't think other named makes like Miltek do guarantees that cover's who ever owns the car it is on!
Mods: R-Tech custom remap, Beachbuggy K250 Turbo, Forge 007 DV, RAMAIR Jetstream 108 induction filter, silicone piping throughout, R-Tech Supersize TIP, 42 Draft Stealth Catch Can, N249 bypass, Ported Manifold, Toyo Sports FMIC with 2 & 1/2 pipes, Custom made full turbo back exhaust & 2 & 1/2 " downpipe and 200 cell sports cat. BAM injectors, Turbosmart Boost Gauge, BBS CK Wheels, 312mm Brembo front discs and pads, Carbon canister delete and last of all, a liquid cube!

So if I was going to try and get a quote on a full performance system on my 1.8T what specs would you tell the garage you wanted?

Pro Speed in Cardiff who did mine do a similar scheme but I think you pay like a transfer fee of around £50 should the car go to a new owner  :undecided:
