Jump in revs on acceleration once up to temperature?

Hello,

I have a 130 TDi and have recently developed an issue where if i accelerate (for example 5th gear at 2000 RPM roughly 60MPH) the car will accelerate OK but the revs will rocket up to around 3000 RPM alot faster than normal.

Unfortunately this only happens when I've been driving for a few miles so mechanics i have got to look at it haven't noticed any issues as before the problem occurs the car drives excellent.

I initially thought clutch slip but this doesn't make sense as it had a new clutch kit put on 18 months ago and had it double checked by 2 mechanics.

I'm hazarding a guess at maybe a split pipe to do with the turbo.

Any help/advice with this would be great.

Dont want to worry you but mine did that before the cam let go

Is that realistically possible when the car has only done 95k miles?

It might not have been related i thought it was the clutch but that was ok i had it changed as it was out to be checked when the cam died . its a common problem on the pd150s  but ive heard of a few 130s doing it. but not with 95k on the clock. mine was around 110k when it let go and had full vw history.
like i said though its more than likely not that

As I say in original post i'm guessing split pipe somewhere although I have heard egr valves can cause weird engine running problems?

I would have thought a split pipe would cause a constant loss of power.

Have you had it scanned for codes?

That is my next port of call, the mechanic I normally use is away for the next week so will have to wait.

Yea I think if you can get some codes out of it we might get closer to the problem, sounds like an odd one, haven't came accross it before. Does it ever go into limp home mode? Lack power? Could have been a dodgy clutch that was installed? Or the clutch is contaminated? Caddys have a oil on the clutch plate problem..

No problems like limp mode and pulls really well, neve noticed it doing it at lower speeds, normally 50mph upwards. It only does it if I give it a little in 4th and 5th mainly. But not all the time and if I haven't been driving for long. Engine temperature is definitely a common denominator.

Hello, update on subject.

Cause is early signs of dual mass flywheel, car now with mechanic decided to get clutch done at same time to avoidany chance of needing to have it all apart again. Best quote I got was £750 using Lucas parts.
