Yes it would be different however to do the job to high standard would cost the same or more than fitting a 1.8t.

Yeah even modded 8v is notably slower than a standard 16v.

It says for 2.0 4 cyl engines, including beetle and mk4 2l 8v. It'll fit yours

My 8v is a lot slower than my 16v, but as I said I just cant pull out a mint motor for something else. It's got 8 vw stamps and last one was at 25,000  (i changed oil and filters at 31000) so spending money on this engine.  I only want the cam for the lumpy idle 

That was a lie! I want it because it's sh!t after 5000rpm

Anyway getting it put on Tuesday, same time it's getting cam belt and water pump.

Now waiting to hear back from carbon

Sorry to but in but i have the same problem, my 8v engine is mint with only 78000 miles on her, but just need a bit more power. i ll put a turbo in mine if someone can point me in the right direction

Could you not just pull the motor and mothball it?

I was only talking to Ben about this on Sunday, albeit for a brief chat.. Think it would be a bit different from the norm, and shouldn't be that hard to do..
It's something I'd like a go at maybe next year with a recon engine etc
We shall have to see how finances develop

Well it is not easy and to build it so it works well and lasts will be expensive also I have seen a few built and they tend to be around 160bhp tops, a 1.8t will give you more and it was designed to work with a turbo from the start.

id still like to see a 8v Turbo 

Russ has the 16V Turbo so thats covered that side of things, just need a 8v one now
