heater blower and radio not working
« on: 16 July 2012, 21:55 »
hi all. ive just bought an 02 golf today and for some reason the heater wont work on any speeds and the radio wont come on.  also when ive got the lights on should there be any instrument lights on behind the blower controls as there isnt any but there are when the exterior lights are off:S ive checked the blower fuse near the driver door and it seems ok but i cant seem to find the radio one. it seems strange that both have stopped working at the same time and they were working before. any ideas?

I also had this problem, i checked my fuses and they seemed to be ok but then i used a voltage multimeter, i set it to beep when you press both ends together my thinking here was that when i put both ends on the top of each fuse if there not broken it "should" beep and hey prestro i found two blown fuses even thou they looked fine when i took them out. changed them and all was good in the hood

ok i got the radio working. it was a fuse but the one at the back of the head unit. are there any other fuses for the heater blower apart the one at the driverside door?

heater blower, indicators and wipers failed on mine.
I replaced Relay 100 and they all worked after.
Located behind plastic panel drivers side foot well.
There is also 3 fuses above that relay board, dont know
what there for thou but worth a look if you've checked
everything else

Heater blower might just of died you can id say heater blower switch has gone, the heater blower its self or the heater blower plug is faulty.

i took the blower out and tested it by connecting it to the battery and it works. i put everything back together and then took the cables out from the speed control for the fan. i connected live and neutral to that and the fan wouldnt come on. i tried it on all 4 speeds, so i take it its not the switch? could the resistor pack have completely gone?
