my 8v agg engine , revs break down at 5,ooo ive replaced plugs and ignition coil still no joy. any sugestions??

Well, if it does not rev over 5k then ecu is in break down mode - if ecu in break down mode there is a fault stored there.
Read fault with VCDS then you'll know what's wrong  :laugh:

It is in safe mode so you may have a timing issue.
