You can buy two part polyurethane and silicone moulding and make better mounts from your own mounts which should be better than the fr3 mounts. All you have to do is chisel your own mounts apart to get to the rubber ( your mounts will be f**ked until you make the moulds). My opinion just buy. Vf engineering mounts,

no if you read through it they are stiffer than standard mounts and use the original casings which is exactly what it says on the tin

Ive ran them with 250bhp and driven hard daily and nothing wrong with them.  One of the casings did crack, but replaced with a OEM one and good as new.

The report is bound to be bias, its written by vibratechnics.

Id recommend them to anyone if they asked.

I agree with Wazzer - they do what they say they do. They don't pretend to be anything that standard mounts with harder rubber. Probably suitable for most folks who want to up-grade but not chasing silly power.

I like my Vibra-technics ones though.
From what I have heard, VF are a bit harsh on the road but do their primary job very well!

Exactly :afro:

It's almost as if Vibratechnics wanted to find out they weren't stiffer etc but had to eat a bit of humble pie lol

I still dont see what vibra-technics have tried to say about the THS mounts.  They come to the conclusion that the Fr3 mounts are 22% (if their figures are correct) stiffer than the OEM rubbers.

Its like you upgrade your wishbone and rollbar bushes to give a more solid feel.  Reduces movement, you get a solider feel.

AS THS say on their site:

The outer casing of the mounting system maintains stock appearance, whilst the internal rubber has been carefully re-engineered by means of shape and stiffness to reduce engine/drive train movement. The rubber is 30% stiffer than standard but becasue of the re-engineered shape the engine movement is reduced by over 50% without transmitting any serious engine vibration back into the vehicle unlike polyurethane mounts.

http://www.thsperformance.co.uk/category/FR3_Engine_Mounting_Systems/1997_2004__MK4_Platform_VAG_Cars_,b.html

30% stiffer and 50% less movement.   Vibratechnics seem to confirm that in their release.
