Right i have owned my MK3 for 3 Years now, I have been to various VW Dealers, and when i give them my Reg Number, They cant seem to find my car on their database,

However the guy at the dealership once says to me that my car was built & imported over from south africa, where VW built some MK3's.

Is this true??

Have a look at your Vin letter and this should help:

A - Ingolstadt
B - Brussels
E - Emden
G - Graz
H - Hanover
K - Osnabruck
M - Mexico
N - Neckarsulm
P - Brazil
S - Stuttgart
U - Uitenhage <-------This one is South Africa.
V - Westmoreland, PA.
W - Wolfsburg
Y - Spain


So if you have a U in your VIN its from South Africa.

Mine is and is on a R plate, maybe later ones were?

If it's the letter I think then it's the one before the numbers at the end.
