supercharged valver need help
« on: 12 July 2012, 19:06 »
hey all, in need of some advice, iv got a 9a 16v engine that i pulled apart years ago and iv lost one of the conrod caps, iv got a complete set for a kr though but the part numbers on the caps dont match up, the 9a is 053f and the and the kr is 053 and the liklyhood of finding just a single 9a rod is slim, the reason i want to stick with the 9a is that i already have all new shells bearings and rings. Now am i right in thinking the kr and 9a rods are the same length its just the pistons that are different?
My next question is i have crankshaft out of 1.9 straight diesel vento which im told when used with 9a will take it up to 2.1, if i use this how will it affect the compression ratio? as im supercharging it i was going to cheat and use 2 abf head gaskits to lower the cr but will the longer throw of the diesil crank affect this?

Basically i want to know will a 9a block, pistons, kr rods, diesil crank (all lightened and ballenced) and stacked gaskets work with a polished kr head, cams and a eaton m45 charger  if not, what do i need lol

from what ive read about this conversion the use of the diesel crank could require notching the block to allow clearance of the con rods on the sides of the bores.
also read the m45 eaton is too puny to provide decent boost or  for the 2.0l, and that a m65? is better matched to a 2.0l.
nip over to club gti and do a search there is plenty of info or ask the same question.
mostly the 2.1L coversion is used on normally aspirated engines with throttle bodies

Correct, it needs a lot of clearance work to the block plus an overbore.

Spot on again, M45 is for up to 1.6, M65 is the better choice.

A 2.0 is the better choice to run with a supercharger.

have some 6a rods ( same as 9a  but audi )

but kr roads will fit  differance is in compression hight of piston.   IMO  2.1 is a bad idea  rod x stroke ratio is pants.  also with boost you don't really need displacement stick to 2.0  better engine geometry and will be more eager to rev than a 2.1  just run a littel more boost.

m45 is a bad idea way to small ,  m62  is the sensible choice   , M90  is the nutters choice
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
