leon cupra R 225 problem
« on: 10 July 2012, 23:55 »
hi everyone basically my mates got a leon cupra R and he had a problem with it, every once in a while after putting his foot down a bit, it would sort of go into a kind of limp mode hardly any power ect but soon as he turned it off and onm again it would be fine for a while then do it again, it eventually came up with a fault code for the dreaded maf, told him to get a new one but a genuine bosch one he didnt listen an got a cheap one off ebay, it came today and it was fitted and was perfect for half a day then all of a sudden everytime he put his foot down it goes into limp mode with no power ect, iv checked off pipes ect for boost leaks all fine even put the diverter valve back to standard to see if the forge one was dud but no still doing it, does any one know if thats what the crap mafs do? just cant get my head round it, done some reading with a code reader and its reading 4.25/4.5 g/s on idle and to the redline in 3rd its reading 245/248 g/s which seems very high to me, also the car is standard apart from turbo back miltek jetex filter and forge 007p, forgot to mention it had a new n75 valve less than a month ago also so cant be that

Only ever use genuine Bosch MAF and lambda sensors, you pay more but you know they will work and keep working
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

Even the Bosch ones have been known to be faulty straight out of the box!

Yeah happened to me, new from VW - went to carbon for a map and needed to go over to GSF for a MAF
