Start prob mk3 16v
« on: 18 June 2005, 00:40 »
Hi all had a problem with the wiring on the isv valve which was found to be a broken wire it buzzes away fine now, ran for four days fine fifth morning would not start  it sounds like it is flooding as after a long turn over it starts on one cylinder then comes slowly on to all the rest.
the car runs fine the rest of the day ........ does the mk 3 have a cold start valve read in another thread that this disconnected  stopped it flooding when it was left over night  thanks all... bill

Try changing the coolant temp sensor, have seen a few of these fail and cause poor starting.
Steve.

Thank's for that tip on the coolant temp sensor will find out tomorrow when its cold as it was still warm tonight,
What i did notice was when the outer sleeve was pulled back to reveal the two wires, they were twisted and the outer plastic round the wires was cracked and the wires were stuck together so  i think this was the prob let's hope so.
I had already changed the sensor so ill just leave it  thank's Steve it looks like you were on the right track with the sensor
