45p is reasonable and what I think my company pay, though I've not put in a mileage claim for a few years  :lipsrsealed: /facepalm

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Sounds like some of you are getting some pretty poor pennies!

You have to think about the ware and tare on the car, tyre's, service, insurance etc........ the price of fuel is a rip as we know!

and I hope your all letting your insurance know your useing your car for work~!

TBH I think your getting a pretty spectacular deal rather than others not getting a good one. To be given a company car AND to then be given 40p a mile is unheard of in my book. The 40p a mile is meant to be cover the wear and tear and insurance on a car, but seeing as its a company car non of the applies so quite how you got that deal Im not sure.

Its more of a car allowence, then millage on top, when covering 100k+ a year, after 3 years the cars worth nothing or has gone pop already, hence running a banger in to the ground every year.

We do have to fork out for wear and tear and insurance, mine being £344 a year and already on my second set of tyres from april  the cars in my name, just a way round the system...

So they give you a car but you have to insure it and fix anything that goes wrong with and replace stuff with it? Sounds a  bit of weird a complicated setup. I cant understand why you wouldn't just have a fully maintained lease seeing as you do so much mileage.

That's a weird setup, especially as anything over 45/25p a mile is taxable.

It's the one we all voted for in the end, funny enough we got the idea off one of our clients who do the same, a large one at that.. who supply lots water...

The cars then ours and we are responsible for it, and not classed as a compnay car?

Funny enough one of the guys got a Mk3 golf and shes coming up 320k now, 2 years she's lasted.

That must be a car allowance?? Not many company's allow cars past 5 years old even with an allowance. Who owns the car you or your company?? Seems a very strange set up having a MK3 as a company car !!!!

Where i work, it's based on what car you drive. I get 58p per mile. Just a shame
I don't do too much travelling (only 44-55 miles a month)
