For those that travel a lot of business, is 45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles, 25p per mile thereafter, reasonable?

It's what HMRC recommend. This is applicable to when you have company car in my case.

I travel in my own car, get 0.35 per mile up to 8000 miles, anything above that they pay 0.45 per mile and I'm now on 17000 miles in last 8 months and I drive a petrol

Which is good, because I am going up to Warrington tomorrow. Slowly. Taking small sips of petrol as I go... And making some money for being sat in my car watching the world go by.

LOL - driving is fine. Luckily I have a Mk3 so I get there without back, leg, shin and ankle ache...

I get 25p a mile.

Had to drive to Bedford which worked out at around 200 miles there and back. Got to claim near on £50, but because it's a derv it only used just over a quarter of a tank.

They might change the price they give you per mile if its a diesel, worth asking. Those figures are pretty standard and its what my company do. I get 18p a mile rather than the 45p but thats because I get a car allowance on top of it.

Anyway, yes, its reasonable.

27p a mile in my own car

I'm a Civil Servant and we get 40p per mile and its only gone up by 5p in the last year. Has been 35p per mile for the last 5 years. Doesnt rise with inflation sadly.
If i take a passenger in the car then I get 45p per mile
