wet boot and non working central locking

hi  ive got an 8v gti now the other day i noticed my central locking had stopped working opened the boot today and its wringing wet on the drivers side of the boot found the leak and its coming in through the drivers side rear light. could the two be linked or is it just coincidence???

They're likely related; the central locking pump sits directly behind the rear lights. Take the pump out, give it and all of the connections a good hair-dryer treatment and get a new seal for your rear light

Or be cheap and bung some sealant round the old one

spent ages trying to find out why my boot was leaking! turn put there was a tiny tiny hole up by the boot strut, so i used a bit of sealant job done. only way i found it was to use a hose pipe had my daughter in the boot sprayed water in places and she let me know when it started to come through.

anks gunot been on here for a few days ill sneak the hair dryer out without the wife noticing and pop to euro car parts after work tomorrow for a new seal
