I must admit i like this more 'organic' tuning but i'm guessing its not a cheap option.
**Just priced it up at about £300 for the cam and new tappets although the TSR website says should be used with 'modified injection'?

ive got a light & ballanced flywheel fitted and i noticed a bit of a diffrence (does rev alot quicker) and on my way to the gti show with mad4vws, he was driving a mk3 diesel i kept leaving him behind. As soon as we foot it he just started to fall behind. I also have a decat straight through zorst lol. So thinking about the cams and MIGHT port & polish the head aswel.
Mine barks & pops like a B1TCH! And when it pops it farking pops like popcorn esp when im slowing down and revs are just over 2k

Put the money towards an ABF conversion, trying to make a 8v quicker is not easy plus will or could in the end cost more,

So £274 for cam + lifters. Add a few more pounds on that for a new cam cover gasket. So about £280 all in.

Tis very true. The 16v in standard form is much better than a modified 8v, end of story, I know it well enough.

my mate ozi bizzle (on here) drove it and said that the power was raw (rough) he liked it. But im gonna start saving for a 1.8t but not sure what base (engine code wise)

My problem is I ain't got the heart to pull out my 33,000 8v engine for something faster/better with more miles on it. Seems a shame and waste to pull it out.
I could of had a 2.8 24v in there by now if I didn't think that  :undecided:

theres a guy on club GTi (martin hot golf) he did mine. I think mine was 5.6kgs (there about) he lightened it to 3.2kgs (i think) but i have also been told that i should have got my clutch ballanced aswel. As when on biting point, sometimes the car judders & i know its the clutch thats doing that. He charged me just under 90 as i wanted next day delivery.

I keep looking around at cams as my cambelt needs doing soon, ive already got a miltek cat back and a k&n panel filter.
Newman cams seem to be the cheapest at about £160 for a 268 or 272, they are used in the mk2 championship so must be fairly decent.
