Gear Stick Shim Thing!

The other week when I got my new gearknob I noticed a bit of damage under the gaitor. Here's a couple of pics to show you what I mean.



It's moving around and getting in the way when selecting 2nd and 4th so I need to repair it! But what's it called and does anyone have it lying around?

It comes as part of the gear linkage kit, and I'm afraid to say to change it you have to take the exhaust off and drop it from underneath to get it out.
Whilst you're repairing it, might as well do the whole linkage kit. I've just done it, took a while but has made a massive difference.

i have the same prob with mine, i think you need to look at the gear shift repair kit.

As above you need a gear shift repair kit. i done mine the other week and was a pig of a job. there is a guide in the mk2section. Problem on mine was exhaust was rusted on solid and needed replacing as it was. Its also really tight to wiggle it round. i was swearing most the afternoon at the car!

Typical! So the smallest thing wrong means I've got to get under the bloody car!
