I seem to remember the driver has the same factory suspension as the 8v yes, which will make it a little lower and stiffer than the lesser models. Does anyone know if the ARBs are updrated on driver/gti too?

I have one of these, good cars and only 1 step down from a GTI!
the 1.6 is still pokey when you put your foot down! Handling is a little softer than I would have expected but stll smooth enough, a great first car IMO

i think that dampers are the same but spring arent as an 8v is 10mm lower and a 16v is 20mm lower,

also i dont think drivers have ARB's? J plates may have them like they have SIP's :wink:m lol

Can't think of a funy or whitty comment

Drivers share the same dampers as a 8v, but are nowhere near in the same sitting position (ride height), there is a good difference between them and the springs on the driver are not as stiff as on the gti's.

ARB's as far as i am aware the driver does not have them, thought it was only the 16v's that came with them due to the high power.  :undecided:

In essence your mate is wrong, but to bang a set of gti suspension on there is a easy job.
