S reg' s/wheel cover removal, (with airbag)

Ay-up,
Another quicky,

Can i pop-off my steering wheel cover so as to trim it?
Its a mk3 on an S-plate with 4 spokes, and a shaped horn press each side, and the 'airbag' logo across the panel i want to trim.
Any thoughts?

So you want to actually trim the airbag its self,i dont think that would be a good idea imo as its designed to break through that part on deployment
and a covering may affect its performance

Good point, well raised. Any one elkse hav an opinion on this?
Its the 8" square panel right in middle of the wheel. It looks pressed onto clips maybe?

Does the airbag go through this in event of an accident? Or does this panel swing open, (up or down) ?

It tears through a weakend section of the panel,the unit is held on by to allen bolts on the rear of the wheel

Yep and covering or retrimming it is a daft idea

there is no way i would mess around with an airbag. took my steering wheel off yesterday to replace my wiper stalk and just removing the airbag had me cringing waitng for it to go off in my face

Best way i find is stand outside the car and tell the misses what to do

They never worry me, disconnect the battery and leave for 15/20 mins and you should be fine.

Iv defo bin scared off the idea now,
I was gna trim it the same materiel as im doing the headlining, and the glovebox. Maybe g'nob gator too.
But i might skip the airbag if theres a chance of DAAAAANGEEEERRRR !!!!
