I find the only people with anything negative to say about the car are mk5 Golf owners. Sour grapes? Who cares.
The xenons get a lot of positive comments until I tell them how much they cost as an option.
I think the mk6 will age reasonably well for a few years. The mk7 is just around the corner and yet the mk6 is just a mk5 with the current VW family face so should carry off the 'up to date' look for a few years yet and that's probably why the convertible got released so near the end of the model life - there's no danger of the family face changing for another few years.
But yeah, the GTI gets comments most days and thankfully they are still quite a rare sight down in the deep South West despite being over three years old now.
