It should spark no matter that position the dizzy is in.

IIRC a spark plug lead on the coil with a spark plug attached should do the trick. Not a fan of electric shock!

Also replace that battery if it doesnt hold charge. Saves messing around with the jump leads. Worth checking all the engine bay earths also.

My bet is on the distributor.

ok so i take the end off the coil and hold that to a set of insulated pliers and see if there is a spark? sounds f**king dangerous to me but ill give it a go! haha
Nah in the old days we always tell newbies to hold a dodgy lead, once they got a shock we knew the lead was finished
Yeah spark plug should be on the end aswell so wasnt clear sometimes I assume people know what they are doing

right i've done a few spot checks:

Voltage at the battery is 12.4v.
Voltage at the coil with ignition on is 12.4v
Voltage at the coil when the engine is turned over drops to 8.7v.
Voltage at the igntion module (on top of digifant ECU) is 12v when ignition is on.

I removed the king lead from the dizzy cap, put a spark plug in there and still get no spark when the engine is turned over. the rotor arm hasn't been moved from its original location so it should still be at no.1 at TDC.

I am thinking it has something to do with the immobiliser/alarm circuit?!

I would think if you have voltage at the coil and the engine turns over it wouldn't be immobiliser.
I had a problem similar to this recently and it turned out to be a duff battery. The voltage at the coil dropped to 7v in my case and the spark, when I got one, was yellow and as weak as piss. In the old days a 6 volt coil was fitted with a dropper resistance in series which was shorted when the starter was opperated to effectively put 12 volts onto a 6 volt coil.
I don't know if the digi has this, I bloody well should know, as I've had these now for 21 years. I suspect not, but someone on here will surely know.
Anyway, good luck with it, as I know, it can be a ball ache.

Cheers for that, another evanue to go down  I just have a feeling that there is a dual immobiliser system, its got a gemini Aquila alarm/immobiliser.

My battery is brand new, as is the coil, leads, plugs and its had a replacement digifant ECU as well
