exhaust studs

time to change my exhaust. Had everything for a while but going to do it now  :grin:
when changing the manifold will I need new studs? Keep in mind its done 33,000 miles.

if so where to get them from?

210'000 miles, manifold off much more than id like

Origional studs + copper nuts  :smiley:

I dont remember why im using copper nuts but they were recommended by my local dub'doctor

I'd change them. By this time they'll be brittle. To be honest you'll probably snap one or two taking the manifold off. Only a few £ from VW I suspect.

Give them a heat and you should be fine. You might find if the nuts seized it may take the whole stud with it. If thats the case you should be able to just use them again. I dont tend to replaced them unless they snap. And getting them out can be a ball ache if they snap flush. So just be carefull and if it feels tight, heat and work it. Can sometimes get away with leaving them in if they snap, bit rough thought!

They will be fine, just soak them in plusgas first.
