rear window bracket?

helllo,  recently got myself a 16v which im all happy with minus the fact the rear drivers side electric window doesnt work. the window its self has no support and can slide down by it self. rather annoying with all the rain we keep having.
the bloke i got it off said it just needs a new bracket. im not sure if he he means the clamp like things at the bottom of the glass???
if it is the clamp, would the clamps from a manual rear window from my other mk3 work? are there any differences?
i just thought i would get as much info as i can be before i start removing door cards and all that!

Most unlikely to be just a clamp. Sounds like the wire in the mechanism has snapped allowing the glass to move freely but until you remove the doorcard you won't know for sure.

had the same issue here. My rear window made a snaping sound so i stopped using it. After a few days i noticed that my alarm kept going off. I realised that my rear window kept falling down. Took the mech out and noticed that where the cable bit sits in the bracket, a plastic bit holding the square bit in place had broke. My uncle did a quick fix (3 yrs ago) & it worked perfectly. So i tried itt again only last till i put the door card back on. I replaced that part took best of 10mins & also put PLENTY of grease on the slider & motor.

Also check the loom inbetween your door, just twist it at the bit where it joins the body and pull it back you will find some wires that have broke or are cut

only just got around to looking at the window. turns out the the window has been smashed before. bits of broken glass every where.  anyway, got it all working, kind of. my dad recons there was somthing missing on the bracket to keep that nut like thing on the wire in place. we got round this using a home made washer and a cable tie lol.
problem is now tho that soon as the window is fully closed, it re opens a bit by its self.
also soon as i unlock the car, the window drops abit again. however when i shut iup the car, the window goes up and stays up.
cant also hold the button down for a few seconds, let it go, and it should keep going by self like the other windows.
any one got any ideas?? it does this when using the switch in the back and the one up front, so cant be the switch
