Fuel leak
« on: 03 July 2012, 19:45 »
Hi all

I think I have a minor fuel leak when the car is running.  I returned home from work and noticed a drip from underneath the car

Is this the fuel pump?

Thanks

Pedro

yep its in a rubber cover, probs a union or perished hose, sorry on a mk1 its in a rubber cover but that looks like the pump itself leaking, the little cylinder on the end is the accumulator i think

Thanks for your reply.   Is this something I will need to go to vw for new parts?

Thanks

think you may get stung at vw but they are quality parts, try gsf or ecp

Main pump. A second hand one should be good enough. Looks like an internal leak just by the pic.

Also buy some new petrol pipe jubilee clips. Don't just use any clips as they can chew into the lines

£20 tops for a used one.

Sorry I'm not totally understanding this.... Am I right in saying the fuel pump is a separate part to, and sits inside, the box (which is leaking)?  Will I need a fuel pump and the box/appropriate rubber seals?

Thanks in advance,

Pedro
