Auto Close Windows
« on: 16 June 2005, 16:41 »
This is probably a widely known fact but i didnt know and its quite a cool feature.

When you lock your car if you hold the key in the unlock position for a few seconds all the windows will open. It works the other way with the lock position too. I believe that it will also open and close your sunroof if you have one.

I know this works on Mk4 4Motion and on Mk3 GTIs and probably others too.

Its a shame you cant do it from the keyfob :(

Well known fact, but still cool.

There is a mod you can do with the fobs, its on the net somewhere.
you can then do this with your fob.  When it is modded you press something like lock, unlock, lock to open the windows or lock, lock, unlock to vent them and so on.

and yes it will close your sunroof

I used to have that feature on my Mk3, and it was linked to the alarm, so when you set the alarm, it would lock the doors, wind up the windows and shut the sunroof.

It's a bit of a pain in the summer if you wanted to leave your car parked outside your house with the windows open, but locked.

Cliffords can have the 'smart windows 4' module plugged into them and you can wind the windows up and down from the remote. Quite a cool feature.

Dinx. you could wire it up to the alarm, but you'd still have to lock the levers in once it had closed :(
