Tbh I was only going by what the diagram says...

it don't take much to confuse me with cars

All that I have learnt about them is from having this 1.8t golf.

Before I thought you just got in them and drive away

, I didn't realise you have to turn into a VAG mechanic to be able to run a 1.8t golf after a remap!
