Well i've just spent 3 hours trying to get the handbrake to work properly after a shoe change and i'm thinking the cables must be worn out or something because i just can't get it to work properly.

Of course you "backed off" the cables at the hand brake end for starters

I thought they were fairly simple. Last time I replaced em anyway. Back the adjusters right of and adjust so the drum just goes over. Then adjust handbrake cable to ur specified amount of clicks

Had this exact problem last week on a rubbish old 206.....new shoes fitted, poor handbrake on one side. Turned out the cable on that side was mullared. Replaced it and was mint. Worn drums, or if there is an excessive lip on them, can also cause poor brake performance

Yep exactly the same on my missus car, the drums are almost new but the handbrake is better on one side than the other and i have gone through the whole setup procedure.
