Was such a bad way to end such a brilliant show, hope everyone has a speedy recovery!

My 2pence on the accident is that his steering wheel came off as people have been saying, but he was concentrating on trying to get it back on and didn't realise where he was going or what was happening, then realised too late. Just what i think happened?

The car disapeared pretty sharpish though??

Doubt it.

Look here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlGZ5rr_v6A

I know it wasn't a dragster, but the guy in the video is a professional and he faffed about when it came off. I would have thought the guy at inters would have done the same, in a moment of panic as big as this the body just enters a survival mode.

Where do the injured people stand with this insurance wise?

If this was on the road the car insurance would cover any issues around lasting injuries, compensation etc.

Obviously normal car insurance doesn't cover drag racing on a private strip. Do you have to have track insurance to race at Inters? Do the organisers have insurance to cover this?

I have never been to inters, only Santa Pod but personally looking at those pictures i think its crazy that the only protection is a metal fence and then you allow joe bloggs to drive his car as hard as he can past the public. Mad!

That fence woudnt stop a car at 10mpg, let alone 100mph!

is there any updates on the injured people guys

the show itself was great and its unfortunate that summat like this had to happen before people question how safe the whole area was.... not just at the strip but from the entrance and through out ppl driving like idiots at the car park area with pedestrians around really lucky there were not more accidents there should have been a pedestrian walkway barrier atleast especially when ppl are taking their children the thought of a child steeping out in front of a car doesnt bare thinking of and that was just on the way in.

Just read on another forum all involved ok, just bruised and sore so thats good news. Hopefully measures will be put in place to prevent this happening. BUT motorsport can be dangerous as it says in all motor events on the small print.
