passenger rear foot rest
« on: 24 June 2012, 11:29 »
Hi guys. My 1st question on here and its one that has been asked before but I hope mine is more of a head scratcher.

I have a wet back foot rest on the passenger side only. Its strange but its only in the far back end of the foot rest. This makes me think its not coming from the pollen filter. This did leak a few months ago but I had it fixed.
I took the door panel of and that's all dry inside and I don't have a nipple bellow the door arch so cant do that. I checked the seals on the door and they look dry or ok. I had a look to see if the water could run from the front door but can see any wet areas other than the floor in the back. If any one feels like a swim. my car is available...
Its a
mk4 golf
no sunroof.

Thanks

wet  boot? theres a drain or something in there. iirc someone on ukmkivs a few years ago had a problem with wet foot wells, couldnt figure it out untill he realised the boot was wet and it was the drain in there

Hello again, I could really do with some help. Had the golf at the shop today and they couldn't figure it out....It looks like some one just dropped water at the back of the foot rest...I cant see a path to how the water would get to the floor? Please can any one help.

I had the same problem other week. If you can get the car in ramps check the underneath there are a few rubber seals that might be fubbered

Or might sound daft are you running a sound system if so check power cable as water could be running down the cable

ok,

I have stripped the panels and passenger seat out of the car to lift the carpet and it seems there is a bit of water in the front rest to but not as much as the back...(nothing really compared to the puddle in the front) I think with me driving the car, some water could have been spilled to the front....its really that much water.

I cant see anything obvious where the water could come from and my luck a rainstorm just hit and I cant see any water path..door seal dry, door panel dry,

any ideas please?

hello again..

I have now narrow the leak down to the front of the car and my 1st thought was the pollen filter but its dry and its dry all inside the filter down.. Now it seems that the leak is from the centre console side ?? Has any one had this happen before and could any one recommend what or where I should be looking for please..

Thanks

looked at the pollen filter this morning and there was a lot of dirt/leaves around it..... thats where the water was leaking from ??? not on or through the pollen filter as it did two months ago but because of the dirt....so a new seal and clean will sort it....yes ?
