Side skirt adhesive fail
« on: 23 June 2012, 21:00 »
Hi all,

Previous owner had fitted some tatty side skirts to my golf which i have now removed. However god knows what he used to fix them on with but its got some silicone patches and also some really hard like liquid plastic or bonding adhesive which is left on the paint.

Any ideas/methods of getting this stuff off with doing as little damage to the paint possible? Im planning to try tar & glue remover tomorrow but i really dont think that will do anything to this hard plastic stuff...

Cheers!

You could try using some thinners on a rag maybe just don't scrub to hard but you will end up having to get I sprayed or sanding as it sounds like they bonded it with two part

I wouldn't risk getting the adhesive off if I were you... Id just get some anni skirts and cover it up.

Cut as much off as you can with a sharp blade, soak a rag in petrol and scrub like hell,it will take you hours if not days but it will come off.
