GTi 1.8T, Fresh Project< few tips Anyone?
« on: 23 June 2012, 20:55 »
Hey everybody,

I've got a 2001 Golf Gti 1.8T that's begging for an overhaul! Here's a list of things I want to do and would appreciate help and price guides or change of ideas for better ideas!

Interior:

Already Carbon Wrapped dash trim around head units and climatronic fascia (photos to follow once i find my phone lead, yes i did it myself)
Kenwood double din unit from Halfords

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_887353_langId_-1_categoryId_265857

Door Cards, Front Lower Dash bits, central trim wrapped in grey carbon fiber (DIY)
Headliner either carbon wrapped in grey with Union Jack flag in gun metal grey or wrapped in black carbon fiber with Jack flag in light grey.
Seats are already Recaro but base seats need refilling and reconditioning. (prices anyone?)
GTI Gear knob with light up effect when driving lights are turned on (GTI, gear numbers and shift path light up)
Gear Gaitor with grey stitch replacement (Short Shifter installation later on)
R race pedal conversion and GTI scrape plate to the left.
Interior courtesy and central lights converted to LED, either brilliant white or baby blue. (may consider hidden foot well lights)
Headliner console (Interior central light and sun roof plastic bits) wrapped in grey carbon fiber.
Door Speakers and tweeters swapped for Pioneer or Edge speakers.
GTI door scrape plates.

Exterior/Engine

cambelt changed and uprated to race cams at same time?
vr6 clutch and g60 flywheel (very soon to be completed unless different opinion)
all hoses converted to silicon by sparco
miltek system install, GTO tailpipe option.
sports Cat to follow, miltek
Uprated exhaust manifold, stainless steel
Monzo Black 17"'s with 20mm spacers
drilled brakes and green stuff pads
I have already purchased a front bumper ( will show pictures when can ) but here's one like mine but not mine, will have a front splitter added to it

grill bits remain black n the rest in reflex silver.
VW grill changed to a sports alternative, reflex silver with polo style GTI grill badge

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK4-4-Badgeless-Debadged-Mesh-Sport-Front-Grill-Black-w-o-Emblem-97-04-/220997304773?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item33747741c5

Rear bumper, smoothed (not by fiber glass) with 4mot valance for miltek exit.
black magic roof respray
shark fin areal antenna
smoothed tailgate, handle remains but GTI in red lettering across the middle as apposed to the silver and red original
tinted rear windows, rear window limo black, passenger windows to the rear just off limo
rear wiper removed
front wiper reduced to single with Storm Blade
USA imported rear lights that you'd normally find on a polo but for Golf mk4 variety ( Red circle break light) almost like the Golf mk5 rear lights
blacked out angel eye headlamps

That's my list so far...
not much I suppose
the majority of the work will be done by myself and a cousin of my girlfriends whos a trainee mech however help and opinions will be great as i don't want a naff looking motor!

I haven't actually bought them yet, mate from Orwell is helping me source them and will let you know how much, I'm looking for uprated better qaulity products. Either that or I've seen complete engine rebuilds to 350BHP but at the same time I'm running a front Wheel Drive so would kick my arse regarding that  :smug:
