As far as I know this is the first 1.8T BAM LCR in the UK to be running this setup.

The new Borg Warner EFR 6758 Turbo 275-450bhp
http://www.full-race.com/store/turbos/borgwarner-efr/borgwarner-efr-6758-turbo.html

Not a cheap turbo but a fecking AWESOME turbo.   Its the first big turbo I have tuned which can spool near enough on par with the k04-023 by having peak torque below 4000rpm and go on to produce 420bhp close on to 8000rpm.    If tuned with spike it would go on to produce 500lbft with ease by 4200rpm.     but would make the car a nightmare to control/drive.

We opted to peak the boost at 22psi at 4000rpm, then ramp the boost linear to 26-27psi by 8000rpm to maintain a flat torque band.  The turbo would boost at 32psi happy and all day long and could make 480-490bhp maxed ou.

This it the way forward imo....  We all just need to win the lottery..

The graph below is of one of the runs from our live mapping session this morning, layed back to back with a stock AMK 210bhp k04 graph..

If you dont understand dyno graphs then the picture below will put it another way.
Ben is the stock K04 turbo and Lee is the new Borg Warner 6758 turbo.....

The car is also running WMI for cooling and has 100bhp shot of NOS to hand to squeeze the peak power to around 500bhp.

Are you not getting surge below 4500 rpm? At 22psi below 4k I would of thought surge would be rife at that boost? Is it a stock 1.8t with mods?

Very interesting though as I've been doing hybrids for a while on the 1.8t and the 1.8t has a real tendency to surge big turbos that spool quickly.

1.8T Surge really only linked to CR k04 hybrids (by design or no design..lol), the onset of surge seems worse where there is increased turbo inlet flow and and poor flowing post comp setup.  The magic boost number is like you say around 21/22psi around 4k.  The large port head cars can cope with it better.

The EFR 6758 seem the perfect turbo, maybe runs a little hotter than the GT30 range, but with WMI and 12.0:1 it can be kept in check.  Without WMI and at 12.4:1 it would creep to 900* at 7000rpm 6th gear 160mph...

that turbo sounds like heaven

It is, but just not £££££ heaven yet. $1800 for the turbo then £500+ for a manifold, then 730cc injectors £300-400.

But if you ever win the lottery I will point you straight towards the EFR 6758   :smug:

I hope its not a stock 1.8t running that power..

Its a fully spec'd engine, rods piston, head work ect, It can rev to 8500rpm if needed.   Its been an on going project for us and the customer over the last 2 years or so.  When he first came him I refused to map his car for his k04 hybrid as it was in a poor state, but he took my advice sorted the engine and he is now buzzing and spinning in 5th gear...
