Macbook Air
« on: 21 June 2012, 18:18 »
Just received my brand new Macbook Air in the post the other day and I have to say, it's awesome!

I didn't realise until after I put my order in that they released a new model last week, lucky I hesitated for a few days!

Intel core i-5 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB SSD drive, new Intel 4000 graphics.  £798 with corporate discount from the Apple online store.  It's not the cheapest machine around, but it's amazing quality, super thin as well!

The biggest surprise is the SSD in the thing.  I've got an SSD in my main PC, but this thing is even quicker!

Anyone else got a New Pro or Air?  If so, what are your thoughts?

I'm looking at the new Air.

Does it feel flimsy or fragile?

It feels really sturdy, quality is as good as the iPads etc.  It feels like if I dropped it it would stay in once piece.

However, worth bearing in mind that it has no protective glass over the screen.

It's great isn't it?  For such a small thing it's so fast!  Keyboard takes a bit of getting used to, but I like the super shallow keys, just wish they were a little closer together :)

Its worth getting a case to keep it in.

I've had an MBP for around a year too. Recently fitted an SSD and the difference it made is incredible! Sooooo fast now! It's even more of a joy to use! I have Windows 7 in bootcamp and Ubuntu in a virtual machine so all my bases are covered too :)

I'm thinking of adding Windows 7 at some point, got to be careful with only 64GB to play with

Trying to get my 2TB NAS drive up and running at the moment.
