mk 3 gti ignition barrel

When i put the key in mk 3 gti and turn the ignition i have to push the key in more and apply pressure to the ignition barrel to get my stereo to work but as I let off the stereo will switch off,  any ideas? cheers guys

Dont quote me on this, as im not sure if im right, but im sure someone will back me up or shoot me down..

But where you put the key into the barrel, behind the bit you see is a switch that the end of the key will go in to..this could have broken the brackets that hold it in or dropped slightly?

As i said, im not a genious and its just a guess..hope that helps though?

Worn ign switch or barrel, not very easy to replace, do a search in the mk3 section as it has been covered a few times.

Switch on the back of the barrel for sure,pretty straight forward to fix,if you search you may find a guide
