Thermostat fitting help

Weyhey! undoing those 3 adjusters and then the 3mounting bracket bolts was relatively quick and easy. On this engine there is no chance you could do this job without removing ps pump. my coolant is now a nice clear blue rather than a Blackish green.

...and your temperature gauge pointing straight up all the time too. A sod of a job to do, but one that keeps paying you back every time you drive it. Quite literally too - it has improved my petrol consumption by about 3-5 mpg... 10%...

YES you can change the thermostat without taking the PS pump off, if you don't have a pit it's easier to take the alternator and water pump off.
Then you don't need to touch the PS pump - you don't even have to take the ps belt off if you don't have AC.

Ok just extremely difficult then

Although its back together i am yet to test it other than ensuring it didnt leak before the PS pump went back in place.This is because my crank sensor wire looked damaged and i didnt want to run the engine untill this was repaired incase it caused engine issues. Even when i can test it the only way I can test my mpg is to see how quickly my wallet haemorages notes! as one of my many other issues are a broken MFA display (heading breakers yard tomorrow but not looking forward to this). My return to mk3 ownership has been tough so far but atleast parts are cheap and places like this are great for info to keep the old girls alive.
