unrooting HTC desire
« on: 18 June 2012, 20:20 »
Currently running Cyanogenmod 7.1 on my Desire (GSM), but I'm looking at going back to stock ROM as I'm having so many problems with cyanogenmod (I had oxygen beforehand, and that had problems too). I just want a nice operating system now, so standard makes sense (pun intended).

I've tried a couple of RUU's from here

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667

and

http://www.shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Bravo

and

http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Desire

But everytime I run the exe it starts to unroot but thens tops and says it couldn't be completed. Any ideas?

Phone is unbranded, running on Vodafone UK network.

Saw the word mentioned in a few different places but ignored it. Is it something I need to do? Seen this, but seems a mission and a half!

It's easy peasy, though I'm guessing you need one as I needed on on my Legend on my wifes Wildfire needed one.

There is an application (PC based, not phone based) that turns your SD card into the required Goldcard, I'll find it for you.

Had a very quick look for the latest download of Goldcard Tool, but can't find it, here are the steps and downloads for an older version.

Awesome cheers Jay. Just a quick question, can I use the microSD card in the phone or does it have to be a spare?

Can be any SD card, just make sure you take a backup of it first "just in case" - I'm sure the Goldcard tool lets you use your current SD card without fecking it up, but take a backup just to be sure
