Boost with actuator unplugged
« on: 18 June 2012, 18:26 »
Does this mean my VNT is clogged AGAIN or the NEW actuator changed at same time as VNT clean is fooked again?!

With the actuator off, I couldn't do a WOT but its still able to spike up to 2000 actual boost once past 2500 revs approx.

Am i right in thinking, I should have no boost (well 1000 pressure or whatever the idle boost is?)

Sorry about the multiple threads but I feel its best to address the new findings with a new thread

I am so stumped. If I were you I'd call a reputable tuning company near you and see if they can help. Failing that try one of the guys from the forum, they maybe able to help.

I'm a bit wary of tuning companies and the like after being/feeling ripped off and spending so much money already on the car.

I think I'll call Rtech and see if it should be boosting (at all) with the actuator off.

My only guesses at this time is something (VNT arm/vanes or the actuator) is stopping the turbo returning fully back to resting position. Hence why I always have quite a spooling noise.

My plan of action? Gonna try to give it a ruddy good wiggle, then if that doesn't work - take actuator off and give it a ruddy good wiggle when its free.

Lastly, take exhaust downpipe off, fill with mr muscle foam and hope that frees it up

Book it in at R-tech and let Nick run some diagnostics, if the actuator needs setting up he can do it on the rolling road :afro:

I would if I could get time off work lol.

Although it is my plan at some point. Could someone perform the same test as me? Unplug the actuator either actuator end or at the n75. See if they get any boost?

I did a WOT with the actuator vacuum line off last night and got 2500mbar once the revs hit 2000rpm. Scary as fook it was
