Remapped 20vt Quick or?!
« on: 17 June 2012, 18:37 »
So is a remapped 1.8 turbo actully fast ? I know it wouldn't be as quick as modern day hot hatches at focus vxr astra ect

Reason i ask is because I used to own a 306 gti-6 and I'd like that power again but want more refinement.

it wont be as quick as todays cars as they come out the factory with more power to start with but a remap certainly brings them to life and gives you a big fat grin
i think a mapped 1.8t will be quicker than a gti6 as they only 170bhp a mapped 1.8t your looking at 180+ and the torque figure

My stage 1 golf wasn't too embarrassed by a focus st on a long private road he wasn't that much quicker and I had a passenger and a saxo rear axle (don't ask). It quicker than a friends APY S3 too (providing its dry) although I guess its an old car too really. A VXR would slaughter me i'd imagine

They're not fast really but with a remap they are cheap performance considering how much the cars cost nowadays. The engines are pretty flexible and an AUM/AUQ with a k03s make decent power really.
