The mk2 rack will not work - there is only one option available for Mk1 owners - TSR provide a complete kit for the Mk1, but it's about £1,100 and that is before you install it....... Change the wheels to 14" or 15" if not already.... If it's as heavy as you say - check the tyre pressure is set correctly....

Unfortunatley the mk2 rack will not swap onto the mk1, as stated by madone!!!
I have bought a power assisted steering (PAS) rack kit from Tsr over a year ago. Its a good kit.

It's been a long time since, but i think i payed somewhere in the region of about  :undecided:£350.
BUT that was only for the pas rack, itself. I have fitted it myself. I'm carrying out some serious mods :cool:so i had all the engine bay clear to this.
If you simply want pas, then i would invest in the complete kit, and if you're not very confident i would get them to install it. You'll be able to turn corners single handed, leaving the other hand free.

i was under the impression that no mk1's came out the factory with pas untill a few days ago when there was a limited edition mk1 on ebay that had it fitted so would that have been fitted by a past owner?it was a left hand drive if that makes a differance.
