Great customer service - pics added
« on: 16 June 2012, 08:10 »
Mrs Ginge had to take her cab to the dealers cos the roof lining had sagged around the rear window. VW technical said that it was an unknown fault and therefor they would have to replace the whole roof at the cost of £3k - under warranty of course!

This made us both quite cross especially when you could see it just needed a decent job of sticking it back up. We would've done it but why should you when the car was £30k and not even two weeks old.

The sales manager got involved along with the salesman and we came to a compromise, they fix it i.e. stick it back together, fit the GTi side skirts, paint the mirrors black gloss and also supply the door sill scuff plates.

I reckon that this is a great compromise as these are all items that I was gonna do over the next six months.  :smug:

Unhappy to begin with but now very satisfied! Pics to follow, car is booked in next Friday.

Just playing devil's advocate, but what would happen if the roof sagged again in the future, given that you and the dealership have ignored VW Technical's instruction to replace the roof - could it jeopardise getting the roof replaced in the future?  If not, result.

Would not suprise me if they have not told vw what they are doing.
That they order the replacment roof and move it on.
If this is the dealer you bought the.car.from does not suprise me they are doing.

I think that's exactly what theyre doing.

They've told me should it happen again then they will give us the option again of either a interim fix or a new roof, so I've said to bev we'll leave it until the cares early three years old and have a new roof, hopefully this will strengthen any part ex etc as the roof will look brand new.

I don't think i'd want a new roof fitting by the VW "techs" tbh, it'd be the first one they've done and i think you'd have had more trouble in the long run, it's not a good sign though! :undecided:

Exactly, don't get me wrong this issue was purely a cosmetic one. I likened it to a rattle behind the dashboard. Once you start messing you run the risk of more issues. It's a win win situation for bev. She's got some free stuff that we were gonna buy anyway and she gets her lining fixed.

£30k for a car whose roof sags in a fortnight? Phew, that was a lucky escape buying the wife the 1 series cab. 18 months old and not the slightest hint of an issue!!! And it's a 123d so it's seriously swift for a diseasel.

Best thing we ever did not going anywhere near the Golf Cab
