Are they the 2.0TFSI engines? If so I have heard loads of bad stories about them, two cupra k1 owners had huge problems, one ended up with a new engine in the end, other one spent 90% at dealers and issues never fully solved.

I think you are lucky they didnt tell you to bugger off as it was remapped, ive had VW refuse to replace a 3 month intercooler hose that split on my mk4 as it was remapped  :lipsrsealed:

I think they've seen the amount of problems I've caused with another dealership for messing me around and they don't want that hassle.

2.0 TSI, different engines, but still just as bad it seems!

How freaky is this my mate has a new R32. Took into the dealer for diagnostics and they were able to determine that he'd been driving it "enthusiastically", Big Brother is watching.
That and you can only use launch control x2 before voiding the warranty! How rubbish is that?

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

You mean golf R? Thought you could remove codes before you took them dealers. Unless its got Nissan GTR bad, where excessive driving and launch control gets stored in a write only part of the ECU where you can never again clear it, unless you buy a new ECU, and then there's the thumbs up for the one use only bonnet pedestrian safety mechanism which costs a pretty penny to replace once triggered.

I don't think that's true. The whole point in buying an R/GTI is to drive it enthusiastically, so if the engine isn't suitable (fit for purpose) then VW need to sort that out. The only way I think they'd be able to tell is if the car logs a code for some reason (underboost, for example) and it shows speed, rpm, throttle %, e.g. mine showed 150km/h, 5600rpm, 80% throttle, so from that they'd be able to see I was giving it some stick. If there are no codes logged like this then the dealer would be none the wiser.

And as for launch control, that's BS. Why would they provide a feature that can only be used twice.
