If it aint broke...

Have a good look about for rust on the shell/subframes instead. Then clean it back and protect with underseal etc. There will be plenty oppertunity to spend money on it in future!

Just tie rod ends - when they go you get play in the steering and is a pain in the ass on the motorway! If you do this now it won't be an issue in the near future and means you won't have the hassle of getting under there again and setting up the tracking again. It's up to you but if they look old and you can't see them being re-newed in the hisory of the car then I would. Ball joints tend to wear faster on lowered cars.

I think Eibach are seen as better - definately the choice of alot of mk2 owners.

I never understood why these ARB are so expensive I would be interested if VAG still did a G60 one if it was cheaper than neuspeed and other aftermarket ones I would upgrade after all its just a piece of solid tapered bar? I would be tempted to take mine off and get someone to make me one polished?

Especially as the mk2 one is so simple- jst a bent bar. alocal firm was happy to make me one in stainless, but ive not had it done yet. need to get a spare as a pattern

If you feel like attempting it and fancy a little project then go for it, no harm in trying but by the time you have gone to the effort of researching and buying the right material, shaping it to an original and had it heat treated it probably won't be that much cheaper & alot of effort. And if it breaks you don't have a warranty........

A G60 ARB for sale for £40 - don't know if it's sold though:

I am sure there will be reviews of the different arb's on the forums somewhere. You would probably only notice a real difference between them on track.

I agree that you will only probably see the true benefit on the track. That’s why I’m contemplating a G60 one as they are still 22mm thick and should be cheaper. Where would you go to see if VW still stock them for the G60?

Problems with old ones most people paint over the rust and its nasty in one month later hence £40?
But comparing Ebiach and Neuspeed we are looking at over £260 each
I'm sure there are people who can make them for less but then again its down to the material used flex or no flex?
Can someone find out how much a OEM costs?

i wouldnt just be upgrading the front arb on its own.

increased front arb = increased under steer
increased rear arb = increased over steer

you need a balance. but its all down to personal choice. ive had eibachs front & rear on a mk2 and the difference they make is night and day even on a road car.

current mk2 just runs the eibach rear and just an upper front strut brace

its all about finding a balance that suits you & your driving :)
