Rolfe there has been a couple of folk on here I believe who had a remap and have had engine work done / replaced on warranty without a problem. There certainly has over in the other VW forums.

My local Verve where I bought my Golf had leaflets on ever salesman's desk for a 3rd party company offering remaps. If that's not an endorsement what is?

Well, fair enough if it's a regular OK thing.  I remember it being discussed as if it wasn't when I first bought mine though.

And of course anyone can offer a remap on an out-of-warranty car.  I'd want to see what the salesman said if I enquired about the possibilities offered on one of the leaflets.

Thanks all.

Car drives sweet at the mo. They mentioned they didn't adjust the bonnet but had to refit the front bumper to get everything lined up but looks ok.

No damage as far as I can see which I worry about when leaving it at a garage for days, but will check properly when I get chance to clean it, as requested they left it alone.

Right...... I think the clutch problem could be back. I can feel the pedal clicking/sticking as it comes back up. I have a horrible feeling that the slave cylinder is leaking again, could be wrong, the car also felt very smooth pulling off and changing gears immediately after picking it up but now it's back to its usual self of jerky gear changes (or I'm just a sh1t driver again)

For those of you with a GTI, can you hear a clunk when you press the clutch repeatedly, or is it silent?

Fed up now

Sorry cant help with that but just to say hope your suspicions don't turn out to be correct. I would be straight back down to the dealer and get a master tech to looks this and the service manager. Good luck

my pedal is very consistent (consistently vague and no feeling ) but makes none of the noises like you described so i guess something is wrong?

i wonder if there is a leak elsewhere in the system? the bleed block on top of the gearbox maybe?

Ugh! It's so difficult to drive the car smoothly, sometimes I think it must just be me??? If I let the car drive along in first, no gas, then put my foot down, even slightly, it sometimes jerks like crazy! It makes it really difficult and a right pain in the arse in slow traffic or pulling off slowly. 1st > 2nd isn't smooth but it gets better as you get up the gears.

Fcuking sick of this car now, think it may be up for sale very soon  :lipsrsealed:
