starter motor question

will a 8v gti starter motor fit a 16v? k-jet

i think the starter has died on my 16v but gonna get a scrappy one
there are a couple of 8v's in the scrappy but i need to know if itll fit before i get it

Yes it should fit OK as the g/box and ring gears are the same. Iirc, make sure the starter has the small bracket between the two main mounting bolt holes on it for the m8 bolt. Diesel starter from a o2o box will also work.
