Fuel Filler Pipe
« on: 13 June 2012, 17:00 »
Need a bit of help......

Looking to replace the fuel filler pipe on my Golf Clipper Cabrio (1990 model year).....usual problem with rot!!!

Have the chance of a good second hand one but the seller says I have a Mk1 Golf and the fuel filler pipe he has (from a Mk2 Golf) will not be correct....

Would the one from a Mk2 fit my Cabrio??

Any advice appreciated..

M.

No that will not fit. The mk1 tintops and the cabrios are different never mind mk1/mk2 although I hear you can get the mk1 tintop to fit a cab.
......now officially dubless.

I just picked one up for my sportline an oem one, its not new but ''almost new''
65 posted, and in great nick

I was going to mod the tintop one, you can find the original for 100ish on ebay. But if you chop the end off a tintop one I think you can get it done for 30-50 ish..

Depends what you want, and how much you wish to pay

mk2 neck will not fit.

by moding a tintop one basically means cutting a few inches off with a hacksaw

dont get a tintop one unless you want to spend time messing around with it. And you need to put a bend into it.

Thanks to all for comment and advice.

Good useable second hand seems to be impossible to find. I have come across one supplier offering a correct pipe for a Mk1 Cabrio (1990 model) - but delivery charges are ridiculous (IMO) to anywhere north of Perth on the UK mainland. (x3 compared to elsewhere in UK).

I will bide my time, meantime.

I replaced the filler pipe in my old cab years ago and I got it brand new from Euro Car Parts, might be worth a try. Was nearly £100 mind and that was a few years ago.

Yes it will. Thankyou for the link. Unfortunately it had 'timed out' by the time I'd got to it.
