Getting a C1 on your driving licence
« on: 13 June 2012, 13:01 »
Does anybody know what you have to do, test wise, to get a C1 on your licence.

The C1 allows you to drive between 3500kgs and 7500kgs.

This is already on the licence of people who passed before 1997. However as time goes on more and more people obviously dont have this on their licence.

I am not after the C licence which allows you to drive over 7500kgs (HGV) or C+E.

Im purely after the C1 so i can go up to 7500kgs.

Is there a theory test? Do you need lessons? A provisional?

All i can find online is the C class for over 7500kgs.

Thanks

Mike

Its a nightmare to understand...

It seems from what i have read that a C1 course doesn't exist now so you have to go straight to C which is over 7500kgs or the C+E to have articulated.

The reason i ask is to apply for the ambulance service you must have a C1 licence. This is due to the weight of an ambulance. Its not me thats applying by the way!

Yup. I dont have B+E or D1 so i cant drive either. However i can do them for free at work. However if you do them through work you then get stuck with driving those vehicles as not many can!
