how to make the most out of the SMIC
« on: 12 June 2012, 20:31 »
My stage one map, forge 008 and pipercross filter are getting fitted next week on my 99 AGU 1.8t.

The car has just had a full major service with all genuine parts and is running like a dream.

Im wanting to make the most out of the stage one map. so i will be at a later date adding a creation motorsport set,TIP and catch can.

I like how quiet the car is, and i wont be wanting an aftermarket exhaust. I also do not want a FMIC as i see the THS as the only viable option. but an expensive option.

I will be adding a ko3s at a later date.

So the current SMIC. I have read and read and read, and the turborevs SMIC seems to give little improvement on a good working OE item. so i want to make the most out of mine

currently i have this going to the SMIC

will fitting this give better airflow?

ps, it fitted on this

I may match the passenger side to a cold air feedto the airbox

Thanks in advance

Paul

Ok, so whedid your stage 1 come from? Honestly unless it was specifically written for your car you'll just have a stock may be off the shelf stage 1 and it'll be written for a big standard car so you adding bits making amicable more efficient will be an almost certain waste of time. Unless you plan on getting a stg2 you wont see any noticeable gains for your hard work

I would put the standard lower grill back in. The turborev smic is a bargin at £100. My agu with stg 1 map feels good. The only prob i have is spark plus .My car only likes ngk platinum.  :undecided: nology silver, pulse plugs ,denso ik22 and ?? suck
AGU 1.8T. Mods done: R32 front bumper, turborev smic, ngk platinum spark plugs, uprated pancake pipe, demon motorsport boost hoses, forge 007 dv, forge engine cover, r-tec stage 1 map ,home made cold airfilter ,run on 98 ron fuel and castrol edge 0w 40 oil. Advanti racing alloys.
