TDI Tuning Chip
« on: 12 June 2012, 20:01 »
I've got a GT TDI 150 and looking to get a bit more out of it, came across tdituning and wondered what they were like?

 http://www.tdi-tuning.co.uk/car_and_van_diesel_tuning_boxes/volkswagen/golf/19_tdi_148_bhp__150_ps__110_kw/pd_diesel_tuning_box_volkswagen_golf_19_tdi_148_bhp_150_ps_110_kw_P1008.html

Thats the chip, claims 40 more ponies?!  Is that right?

Anyone had experience with these?

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers, Hoggy.

Some work better than others

However if you have an underlying problem with your car and you stick one of these on you wont see as much benefit and it could cause you issues.

Obviosuly im biased but taking your car to a reputable tuner who can do a pre-map diagnostic means you'll get the best results from either a remap or a tuning box

Cheers Rhyso!

By underlying problem im assuming your meaning something that i wouldn't find out was wrong until more power was introduced?

I'm a full time mechanic so it gets regular oil changes, routine servicing, everything it needs, it gets basically, even premium diesel ;)

Im guessing you would reccomend a remap rather than tuming box? Its just theres no one around me for a remap :(

Cheers, Hoggy.

Correct   a tiny boost leak or a failing MAF will rob you of the extra power you will be wanting and unless your have VAGCOM you will never know until you chuck that extra power in

There are some good tuning boxes out there but nothing will ever replace a remap that is designed for your car

Carbon is probably your closest tuner and would be well worth the trip.  The trip back will be even more enjoyable

Cheers, will look into a remap in the near future then ;)

On a completely different note..

Is there much point in putting a different intercooler on my pd150?

Cheers, Hoggy.

Not really as the OEM intercooler is actually pretty efficient at what it does

Only really need to upgrade if you plan on extracting silly power from it

I would just start basic and subtle at the minute then work my way up.

Already got Simota intake, decat, back box, but thats it, just basic at the minute.

Cheers, Hoggy.

Clutch
Turbo
Injectors

Get the right stuff and you'll be knocking on the door of 300bhp

Or to keep it relatively simple
THS engine mounts
Inspect your boost hoses for worn lugs and clips, replace the seals

Like i said, how much do you want to spend
